A short introduction to your dashboard
When you log in to Journalia, you land on your dashboard. This is your starting point and gives you quick access to the workflows most relevant to you.
The dashboard is tailored to your profession, organization, and previous use of Journalia. This means you get quick access to relevant templates, consultation types, and documentation workflows.
From the dashboard you can, among other things, start a new consultation, use dictation, or create a summary. Which options you see may vary depending on how Journalia is set up for you and your organization.
In the menu on the left you'll find previous consultations from the last 48 hours, search, preferences, and settings.
How Journalia works during a consultation
When you start a new consultation, the consultation view opens. Here you can follow the conversation as it happens, add relevant information, and choose which type of note you want to create.
The transcription clearly distinguishes between clinician and patient, making it easy to follow the conversation and see who said what.
You can also add your own notes along the way. This can be information that isn't said out loud during the consultation but that you want Journalia to take into account when the note is created. Examples include test results, observations, or other relevant information.
You can also upload attachments, such as previous notes, referrals, or reports. The attachments can be used as part of the basis when Journalia creates the note.
At the bottom right, you choose note type, templates, and any additional templates before creating the note.
How you adjust and edit the note after the consultation
When the consultation is finished, Journalia creates a draft note based on the conversation, your notes, the chosen template, and any attachments.
You can then read through and edit the note before it is used further.
The content is a draft and must always be checked and approved by you before it is entered into the patient record or used in other documentation.
You can also create several documents based on the same source. This means you can, for example, use the same consultation to create a consultation note, a summary, or a letter.
Once the note is finalized, it can be copied, exported as a PDF, or transferred to an EHR or other clinical system where integration is available.
How you set up your own preferences
Under Preferences, you can customize how Journalia creates notes for you.
Here you can, among other things, add phrases and expressions you often use. This helps Journalia use the correct wording and terminology in your notes.
You can also add instructions that affect structure, wording, and style in the notes. Journalia will then automatically adapt to the way you document.
Under the Editing Assistant, you'll find shortcuts and instructions that can be used after the note has been created. You can use the default instructions already available, or create your own instructions.
Depending on your access level, you may also be able to customize your dashboard and workflows.

Important to remember
Journalia creates draft documentation. You must always read through, check, and approve the content before it is used further.
Transcriptions and notes are available in Journalia for 48 hours. Finished notes should therefore be transferred or exported before the 48-hour deadline expires.
