Preventing Your Computer from Sleeping During Recording

To ensure Journalia can complete a recording, it is important that your computer does not enter sleep mode or turn off the screen in the middle of a consultation. Below is how you can adjust these settings on both Windows and Mac.

Windows (PC)

  1. Click the Start menu and select Settings (the gear icon).

  2. Go to System and then Power & battery (or Power & sleep).

  3. Look for the Screen and sleep section.

  4. Adjust the time settings for when the screen should turn off and when the device should go to sleep.

  5. Set these to Never (or a duration longer than your longest consultation) when the power cable is plugged in.

macOS (Mac)

  1. Click the Apple menu () in the top-left corner and select System Settings.

  2. Go to Screen Saver and ensure it is not set to start too early.

  3. Select Lock Screen from the sidebar menu.

  4. For the setting Turn display off on power adapter when inactive, choose Never or a sufficiently long time period from the dropdown menu.

  5. You may also go to Battery -> Options and enable "Prevent automatic sleeping when the display is off" (if available on your model).

Note: Please adjust these settings in accordance with your local IT policies and security guidelines regarding screen locks.
